It started with a shutout, and ended with a blackout.

The 2018 spring football season has come and gone, and it'll be nearly another three months until teams return to action. When not delayed or outright canceled due to inclement weather or, in one case, technical difficulties, there were plenty of exciting performances across the Volusia/Flagler area.

With that in mind, let's take a look at five players who shined and increased their stock over the last month. This list will examine intersquad exhibitions only, though Dionte Marks' efforts in DeLand's green-and-gold game (seven receptions, 182 yards and two touchdowns) is worth a mention.

Ja'Corey Benjamin, DB, Flagler Palm Coast

FPC certainly had its fair share of breakdowns in the secondary during its 33-21 win at Fleming Island, but head coach Travis Roland was quick to compliment Benjamin after the game. The rising sophomore was credited with two pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

"He's finally settled himself down, and he played great football," Roland said. "I told him that he and Marquise (Gilbert) were the only DBs that didn't get put on the get-took-up-top list (getting beat for a touchdown) for 2018."

In addition to Benjamin, Roland came away impressed with linebackers Tallin Coates and Anthony Buchanan. Coates met with coaches from Columbia and New Hampshire on Monday, Roland said.

Maximus Campbell, WR, Atlantic

After sustaining two concussions in his sophomore season at Spruce Creek, Campbell made a big impact in his Atlantic debut.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder caught nine passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns, helping Atlantic knock off Tavares, 21-8, on Monday. Campbell recorded only 11 receptions in the fall, but could be in for a breakout campaign for his new team.

"I was nervous until I got on the field," Campbell said. "I was nervous that I wasn’t ready to play or in game shape, but once I got onto the field with the team, I did what I could for them."

D'Andre McMillian, RB, Mainland

While the quarterback competition has been the center of attention for Mainland's offense, McMillian is its main source of productivity.

The All-Area second team selection burned St. Augustine for 160 yards and two touchdowns in the Bucs' 28-14 victory.

McMillian has generated a fair bit of Division I interest over the last week, hearing from South Dakota, Florida Atlantic, Wofford and Georgia Southern, where he plans to visit for a camp on June 15.

Marvin Reyes, WR/DB, Trinity Christian

Trinity came up short on the scoreboard against Space Coast, but Reyes emerged as a two-way weapon.

The rising sophomore thrived in his new role at safety, snagging three interceptions. He added a 54-yard touchdown reception from John Davila late in the game.

Marvin Scott, RB, Spruce Creek

Hawks coach Andy Price might have said it best about the former Warner Christian standout after his first competitive outing.

"I kind of expected to him to have a really good night. He was as good as advertised," Price said.

Scott showcased power, vision and breakway speed en route to a 200-yard, four-touchdown game in a 35-0 win at Leesburg. The 5-foot-9, 190-pound rising junior claimed his first offer, from Marshall, earlier this month.

At Warner, Scott ran for nearly 4,800 yards over the last three seasons. He showed no signs of slowing down despite the jump in competition.
