HUBBALLI:
Pourakarmikas staged a
protest in front of the
Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) office demanding the release of direct payment of salary and salary pending for the past two months.
Under the banner of Dharwad Parishishta Jaati, Pangadagala Pourakarmikara Mattu Naukarara Sangha, the pourakarmikas also took out a mock funeral march of HDMC commissioner. The protesters alleged that the HDMC has not paid direct salary even though the state government has passed an order in this regard. Stating that the salary was not paid despite several requests, the workers threatened to intensify the protest if their demands are not met. TNN
