Private health centres to go on strike today

More than 2,000 private hospitals, pathology units and diagnostic centres across the State would keep their shutters down from 6 am on Friday as part of a 24-hour cease-work strike called by the All Odisha Private Medical Establishment Forum.

The forum is demanding an amendment to the Odisha Clinical Establishment Act, 1990.

The outpatient department (OPD) of the private hospitals will remain close while no new patients will be allowed to take admission during the strike. However, the hospital authorities will continue the treatments of existing patients, said sources. In view of the strike, the State Government has taken precautionary measures. All the State-run health institutions medical college and hospitals have been instructed to be in readiness to meet the exigencies arising due to the strike
