Fire officials are investigating after a fire broke out at a Hespeler Road business in Cambridge, causing between $500,000 and $1 million damage.

Fire crews received a call before 7 p.m. Thursday evening about a blaze at an oil change and car wash business on Hespeler Road.

Fire officials said the initial investigation suggests the fire started in the lobby of the building.

Crews from five fire stations in Cambridge were called to the scene. Fire officials said two ladders were put in place to help tackle the fire, and it was quickly under control.

Fire crews stayed at the scene until around 1:30 a.m. Friday morning to keep an eye out for hot spots.

No one was injured, according to fire officials.

Brad Churchill, the platoon chief at the Cambridge Fire Department, said the building was unsafe to enter Friday afternoon and a number of things would have to be done before they could get inside to investigate the cause.

"We're working on things like isolating the services to the building," said Churchill. "We're going to have to have heavy equipment brought in to take down [a small section of the building.] Once that section is removed, there are still a couple of hot spots that need to be extinguished."
