Haryana to give State-level Energy Conservation Awards

Haryana New and Renewable Energy Department has invited applications for the State Level Energy Conservation Award for the year 2016-17 by June 1.

The award would be given under five categories including industries, commercial buildings, Government buildings, educational institutions and organization ideas and new techniques, said an official spokesperson.

He said that in the first category of Industries, those who conserve for one MW (Megawatt) or more load would be rewarded with Rs 3 lakh, certificate and a memento as first prize, Rs 2 lakh, a certificate and memento will be given as second prize. In this same category the industries conserving less than one MW would be rewarded with Rs 2 lakh, a certificate and memento as first prize and one lakh, certificate and a memento as second prize.

In the second category of commercial buildings that includes shopping malls, plaza, hotels, hospitals, corporate and resorts there would be Rs 2 lakh and second prize of Rs one lakh with memento and certificate for one or more than one MW energy conserved. Similarly, less than one KW energy conservation, the award will be Rs one lakh, a certificate and a memento as first prize and Rs 50000, a certificate and a memento as second prize would be given to the winners, the spokesman said.

He said that the government buildings with 5000 square feet covered area and more than 500 KW load would be rewarded with Rs 2 lakh and second prize of Rs one lakh along with certificate and a memento.

In the category of educational institutions having more than 30 KW electricity load, Rs 2 lakh as first prize and Rs one lakh as second prize along with certificate and memento would be given to the winners.

A state level committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, Power for this purpose of selection, in which Director HAREDA, representatives of Power Ministry from Government of India, and from industries and Commerce department Haryana, Petroleum Conservation and research association would be the members.  The Project Director, New and renewable Energy Department has been appointed as General secretary of this committee, the spokesman added.
