White House Gift Shop Slashes Price of Commemorative Korea Summit Coin

Since President Trump canceled his meeting with North Korea, what’s going to happen to all that commemorative merch?

Well a quick check of the White House Gift Shop’s website reveals commemorative coins made for the event are now on sale...????...Marked down from $24.95 to $19.95 a so called “deal of the day.”????Near the bottom the site states, “If summit does not occur you can request a refund virtually all customers have asked us to fulfill this unique heirloom of political history regardless of outcome.” Even seeming to spin the canceled summit a success “because the theme is, Coming Closer to Peace and Celebrates the Act of Communication Among Countries.” There’s also an ornament on sale.

According to NBC News, at one point the website had so much traffic it crashed.????The White House Communications Agency releasing its own coin.

You can see President Trump and Kim Jong Un facing off with the headline “Peace Talks” and some olive branches near the bottom. ????The coin caused controversy, for referring to Kim Jong Un as North Korea’s Supreme Leader.????In a statement the White House said it “did not have any input into the design and manufacture of the coin.”????On Twitter, users were ruthless.

One washington insider tweeting Trump sent Kim half of the coin to wear around his neck.
