As a result of a north St. Louis shooting... a 6-year-old was caught in the crossfire. The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Kingshighway Boulevard and Farlin Avenue, which is near Penrose Park and just a few miles north of the Central West End. A 29-year-old was also shot, and both child and adult were taken to the hospital. Both were last reported in critical condition with stabilizing vital signs. Police are investigating what may have led up to the shooting.
The Belleville student accused of making a threat... just two days after his mother called the cops on her own son was formally charged Thursday. The student, 18-year-old Derek Burton, was charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a person under the age of 21 and one count of disturbance of the peace by making a threat on a person at a school; both charges qualify as felonies. His mother claims an incident with her son Tuesday night at a gas station is what led police to cancel classes the next morning.
After a video went viral at Schnucks... showing a worker refusing to give an African-American couple a money order earlier this month, representatives with the grocer plan to meet with the two involved in the video to help make things right. The employee was fired for his actions on camera after the video gained notoriety online, but the boyfriend in the video thinks that change has to come: "That's what we're here for."
