The case of a Mentor man accused of killing his girlfriend has been bound over to Lake County Common Pleas Court.

Russell Fritz, 38, of 8347 South Villa Marina Court, allegedly confessed to police that he killed 35-year-old Kristen Laux in the early morning hours May 17.

Police said the victim — who resided with the suspect — had been assaulted and stabbed with a knife during a domestic disturbance.

Fritz was arraigned on a murder charge in Mentor Municipal Court May 18. He had his bond set at $1 million.

He waived a pre-trial hearing in the Mentor court May 24 and his case was bound over to common pleas court, according to court records.

His bond was continued and he remains in the Lake County Jail.
