‘Suspension of internet service will have no impact on AIIMS online test’

All the exam centres have ‘leased lines’

Suspension of internet service in the three southern districts in the wake of riots at neighbouring Thoothukudi is not likely to have any adverse impact on the All India Institute of Medical Science’s online admission test for MBBS to be held on Saturday and Sunday (May 26 and 27) as the exam centres in these districts have got ‘leased lines’.

As internet service has been suspended in Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Kanniyakumari districts to curb rampant spreading of baseless posts on the social media, the candidates appearing for AIIMS’ online admission test for MBBS were anxious.

Medical aspirants from Kerala too have been allotted centres in the three districts.

When contacted, sources in an examination centre in the district said the AIIMS, only after carefully scrutinising the infrastructure available there for the smooth conduct of online test, had hand-picked the centres.

“Since all these centres have got ‘leased lines’, suspension of internet services in this region will not have any impact on this test and hence the candidates need not worry about it,” the sources said.
