In Telangana, Congress Party has demanded Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhara Rao to reduce fuel taxes so as to reduce burden on common man.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Thursday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee -TPCC Chief Spokesperson Dr. Sravan Dasoju said that the Telangana Government has increased the burden to tune of Rs. 3,025 crore on common man by increasing taxes on petrol and diesel.
He alleged that the state government is collecting 35.2 per cent taxes on petrol and 27 per cent on diesel.
Dr Sravan remarked that Telangana is collecting highest taxes on petrol and diesel when compared to 22 other states in the country and its fuel tax collection shot up to 7,552 crore rupees in 2016 from 4,527 crore rupees in 2014.
