Case for fake postings on social media

In a swift move to arrest the spread of fake messages that have been terrorising people, the Siddipet Police have registered a case against one Jakku Kishta Reddy, a resident of Lingareddypally village, on Friday for sharing objectionable content in a social network group.

The complaint was lodged by ACP Ch. Rameswar in One Town police station in his individual capacity.

According Mr. Rameswar, Mr. Kishta Reddy created a social media group and added Mr. Rameswar as member about a week ago. Between 17th and 24th of this month he posted two highly objectionable content, purportedly belonging to some foreign country. In one posting it was killing humans with huge swords and another video was too cruel to explain.

Mr. Rameswar called Mr. Kishta Reddy and asked him to come to his office. But he failed to turn up. Taking a serious note of posting of objectionable material in the social network group, Mr. Rameswar lodged a complaint with the police.

Interestingly, the WhatsApp Group also has messages containing the video clipping of the Director General of Police asking people not to spread fake messages and the statements of the Commissioner of Police and others with similar appeals.

“None of these objectionable messages belong to our country. Serious action will be taken against those responsible for such postings in social networks like WhatsApp and Facebook terrorising people. We urge the people not to trust rumours,” the police officials said.
