Air quality advisory issued for Northeast Ohio

An Air Quality Advisory for ground-level ozone has been issued for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit counties on May 25, according to a news release from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency.

The advisory will be effective through May 25. Air quality levels will be “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” during this period.

Anyone who is in the “Sensitive Groups” category of children, the elderly and those with breathing difficulties, the organization is advising to outdoor activity, the release said.

NOACA is encouraging people to help reduce air pollution by limiting the use of gas-powered yard equipment and construction equipment, avoiding open burning, and carpooling with other commuters when possible.

Residents can monitor air quality readings with a live map of current conditions.
