HD Kumaraswamy wins Karnataka Assembly floor test after BJP MLAs, led by BS Yeddyurappa, walk out of House
Kumaraswamy is congratulated by all MLAs of the Congress and JDS after he won the floor test by a voice vote. The voice vote took place after BJP MLAs walked out of the house and did not take part in the trust vote.

Kumaraswamy hits back against the BJP after Yeddyurappa and his MLAs walked out. Before walking out Yeddyurappa had launched a scathing attack on the JDS leader, saying he cheated everyone and did anything to stay in power.

Yeddyurappa slammed the ruling government, telling MLAs to avoid being on a "sinking ship". "I don't mind if you want to be on a sinking ship with Kumaraswamy. My fight is not against the Congress, my fight is against the corrupt father and son," he said.

Times Now has released a 'candid video' which shows Opposition leaders are unsure how long the Cong-JDS government will last. The video taken on the day of Kumaraswamy's swearing-in shows CPI(M) chief Sitaram Yechury offering a laugh as an answer when asked by another Opposition leader asked about the longevity of the Kumaraswamy government. "The victory lies in the fact that it has been formed," he then replies.
Yeddyurappa said though Suresh Kumar had filed nomination for the Speaker's post, the party felt they should honour the post by avoiding an election and making it unanimous. Calls Ramesh Kumar simple, humble and unbiased.

CM Kumaraswamy in his first speech in the Assembly mentions how well Ramesh Kumar conducted proceedings in the House when he was earlier Speaker in 1994. The CM said it is already part of legislative history how Ramesh Kumar earned the respect of all the MLAs in those 5 years. Also says he is honoured because Ramesh Kumar was Speaker when Deve Gowda was the chief minister.

Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, in an official statement, said he will meet public daily at his home office in the city to hear their grievances. "The Chief Minister will be available for public to meet at his home office 'Krishna' daily from 10 am to 11 am whenever he is in Bengaluru," the statement said.
The 224-member Assembly has an effective strength of 221, as election for Jayanagar seat was countermanded following the death of the BJP candidate, and deferred in RR Nagar over allegations of electoral malpractices.
BJP's candidate for the post of Speaker has said no whip can stop conscience voting. "No whip can stop an MLA who is overwhelmed by anger and emotions. If they want to give expression to that through their vote, nobody can stop it," he told ET.
The house is slated to assemble at 12.15 pm and immediately take up the election of the speaker

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee's lawyer Surya Mukundaraj has complained against Yeddyurappa, alleging criminal conspiracy to win the floor test in Karnataka Assembly. Mukundaraj wrote to Police Superintendent (Bengaluru Urban Wing, Anti-Corruption Bureau), seeking registration of complaint against the Yeddyurappa and others alleging criminal conspiracy and corruption to win the floor test in the Karnataka Assembly.
Congress has 78 MLAs, Kumaraswamy's JD(S) has 36, and the BSP has one. The alliance also has support lone KPJP MLA and an Independent.
