TV cameraman hacked to death

The assailants suspected that the victim had informed the police about their ganja business in the region

The Vellore police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of private television channel cameraman on Thursday night. The accused suspected that the cameraman had tipped off the police about their ganja business.

According to police, Ashok Kumar, 35, is a resident of Salvanpatti in Vellore. He works as a cameraman in a private news channel.

On Thursday, he was sleeping in the house when someone knocked on his door.

When he answered the door, a few people attacked him with sharp weapons on his chest and stomach and fled the spot.

Assailants arrested

The neighbours alerted the police and rushed him to a hospital. However he died on the way.

A police complaint was registered and the police received information that Tirumalai, 35, Augustin, 22, and Ramesh, 22, and a few others had committed the murder.

They zeroed in on them and nabbed them on Friday.

During investigation it was found that the three were ganja sellers and the police were searching for them.

The three suspected that Ashok had tipped off the police about their business.
