20-year old youth shot at in Sonari, ruckus at TMH

A 20-year-old youth, Abhay Giri, was shot at in Kagalnagar in Sonari on Thursday morning. Abhay received two bullets and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital where his condition is said to be serious.

On receiving the information about the incident, SSP Anup Birtharay, City SP Prabhat Kumar, and other police officers rushed to the spot.

Police officials said that the victim along with, Suraj Yadav and Rajeev Rajak were standing near Ashirwaad Apartment near Sonari petrol pump, when suddenly three youths riding on a scooty with their face covered came near to the youths standing. Before the victim could understand, one of the pillion riders opened fire at Abhay. The miscreant opened four shots. The victim received two bullets one near his neck and the other one on his ear while other two were misfired. After shooting, the miscreants fled from the spot.According to information Abhay was declared ‘Tadipar’ ( banished) but was staying at Sonari. Later in the evening Abhay’s family members created ruckus at TMH in protest against the incident. Some miscreants even tried to burn a motorcycle parked outside the hospital premises. A fire brigade to rushed to the spot to doused the flames.    SSP Birtharay said that the investigation is on and they suspected gang war to be reason of the incident. He said that the security was beefed up at the hospital following protest.“The city had been free from crimes, but now the Rs knife culture' has taken roots.. The police should act with utmost vigil and nab the accused.  The increase in crimes is a matter of concern. Thefts were a common but recent rise of cases of murders is serious.

A crime wave has gripped the city in recent months with figures showing a substantial increase in the number of murders, thefts and robberies taking place across the city. Our city has the reputation of being the safe but in few days crime graph has witnessed a sudden rise. It is high time that police identifies such criminals and action is taken against them,” said a resident of Sonari.
