Mrs. Leona Tucker Cunningham, 79, of Hurt, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Heartland of Lynchburg. Born on February 4, 1939, in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Tucker, Sr. and Lillie Mae Adams Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Cunningham, Sr.; three brothers, Clyde Tucker, Jr., Harry Tucker, and Cecil Tucker; and five sisters, Linda Tucker, Elsie Dickerson, Madeline Tucker, Shirley Miller, and Barbara Tucker Jordan. Mrs. Cunningham was a homemaker and member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Gretna, Virginia. Those left to cherish her memories are her devoted daughter, Beverly Craft (Scottie) of Virginia; one son, Willis Cunningham, Jr. (Letitia) of North Carolina; her stepson, Anthony Stewart (Doreen) of New York; two brothers, Gordon Tucker (Sharon) of Virginia and Edwin "Frank" Tucker of Vermont; her brother-in-law, Harold "Richard" Cunningham of South Carolina; two grandchildren, Christopher Robinson of Virginia and Aviel Ashburn of North Carolina; one uncle, Fred Tucker of Virginia; one aunt, Marilyn Dickens of Maryland; a devoted nephew, George "Tommy" Roddy of New York, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A celebration of life for Mrs. Cunningham will be conducted on Sunday, May 27, 2018, 2 p.m. at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. Jimmy L. Tarpley. Interment will follow in the Tucker Memorial Garden, Gretna, Virginia. Miller Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.
