Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd (MCFL) today posted a standalone net profit of Rs 20.30 crore during the fourth quarter of the 2017-18 fiscal.
It's net profit stood at Rs 4.68 crore in the same quarter during the previous fiscal, the company said in a regulatory filing.
MCFL said the Q4 results are not comparable with the year-ago period due to implementation of GST from July 2017.
Net income rose to Rs 643.06 crore during January-March quarter of the 2017-18 fiscal from Rs 543.54 crore in the year-ago period.
Expenses remained higher at Rs 629.99 crore as against Rs 535.86 crore in the said period.
The company's board has recommended a dividend of Rs 1 per equity share for the 2017-2018 fiscal.
MCFL has a urea plant near the Mangalore port with an annual capacity of about four lakh tonnes and three lakh tonnes of phosphatic fertilisers. Its products are marketed under the 'Mangala' brand.
