Award

Citizen groups in the Nilgiris led by the Nilgiri Documentation Centre have proposed to present the 'Nilgiris Conservation Award 2017' to the District Collector, Innocent Divya, and the former District Superintendent of Police, Murali Rambha, who has recently been transferred to Thoothukudi.

The award was instituted to recognise individuals and institutions who significantly contributed to the protection and preservation of the Nilgiris.

The two have been unanimously selected for their combined efforts to successfully organise the Summer Festival 2018, coinciding with the bicentenary of modern Nilgiris, in an innovative, participative and orderly manner.

The award will be presented on June 5 as part of the World Environment Day.
