Puducherry clocks 94.69% pass rate in SSLC exams

Karaikal region achieves 92.65%; girls fare better than boys

In a virtual repeat of the Plus Two results, girls once again excelled in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination, the results of which were announced on Wednesday.

While girls recorded a 96.50% pass, 92.26% boys cleared he exam. Of the 17,432 candidates, 8,662 were girls and 8,770 boys.

Of these, 8,359 girls and 8,091 boys passed the examination.

The total pass percentage was 94.37, which is 0.70 percentage points higher than last year’s results.

While the pass percentage in Puducherry was 94.69, it was 92.65 in Karaikal region.

As many as 157 schools out of 305 achieved centum pass result in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

100% pass results

Out of the 157 schools that achieved 100% pass result, 125 were in Puducherry, 32 in Karaikal. Twenty two government schools achieved 100% pass. Releasing the results, Minister for Education R. Kamalakannan said the pass percentage in government schools in Puducherry and Karaikal was 88.06.

There had been a slight improvement in the performance by government schools. The department had directed all schools to start help desk to guide the students in choosing their streams for Plus One. There are 9,606 Plus One seats in the Union Territory. Government schools would give preference to their own students in the Plus One admissions, he added.
