A Thursday morning crash on U.S. 1 near Old Dixie Highway in Bunnell left the as-yet unidentified driver of a pickup with serious injuries, authorities said.
Deputy Fire Chief Joe King said from the scene the driver was conscious and talking to paramedics when they took him away when they loaded him in an ambulance for a trip to halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
FireFlight, the county's rescue helicopter, was called to the scene and landed on U.S. 1 shortly after noon, shutting down traffic in both directions near St. Joseph's Street, but the patient was not airlifted.
