Cape Town - Cricket South Africa's (CSA) head of marketing, Clive Eksteen, is back at work having survived the controversial incident that saw him photographed with fans wearing a Sonny Bill Williams mask in March's Test series against Australia.

Eksteen, along with former head of communications Altaaf Kazi, found himself in hot water after the photograph found its way onto social media. 

CSA acted immediately, suspending both officials. 

The incident took place during the second Test in Port Elizabeth where certain members of the crowd had made masks of Williams' face.

That followed the alleged comments that South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock had made about Williams and his infamous toilet tryst with Candice Warner, wife of Australian cricketer David Warner, during the first Test in Durban.

The photograph of Eksteen, Kazi and the supporters came in for massive criticism from fans on social media who found it to be distasteful. 

Kazi later resigned from his post at CSA, but Eksteen sought legal advice and agreed to be part of a CSA investigation. 

Now, more than two months later, Eksteen is back at work. 

Acting CSA CEO Thabang Moroe confirmed to Sport24 on Thursday that the investigation had been completed and that Eksteen had been back at work for two weeks. 

Moroe, though, did not want to get into the specifics of how the investigation unfolded.

"As far as we're concerned, it's all back to normal," Moroe said.

"I don't want to discuss it in public because Clive is an employee of Cricket South Africa (CSA) and one that is close to myself as my commercial manager."
