Wilmington police have named the 26-year-old woman shot in her torso Wednesday.

Police responded to a shots-fired complaint around 4 p.m. and found Morgan Dixon, of Newark, in her car on North Claymont Street. The car appeared to have struck a home, said Sgt. Stephanie Castellani of Wilmington police.

With a gunshot wound to her upper torso, Dixon was unresponsive in the driver's seat of the car, Castellani said. She was treated by paramedics and transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The trunk of the car had hit a brick home in the 2800 block of N. Claymont St., and the back window had broken.

Casings were found in two separate locations: about 16 casings were located in the middle of the 1300 block of E. 29th St. and three additional casings were collected at E. 28th and N. Claymont streets.
