5 snatchers arrested, 10 mobile phones, two pistols recovered

NOIDA: Five men were arrested on Wednesday from Sector 55 and police recovered ten stolen phones and a few unauthorised weapons from their possession. The accused have been identified as Dharmendra Kumar, a resident of Ghazipur in Delhi and Sonu, Gautam, Monu and Raju, residents of Khoda Colony in Ghaziabad.
Anil Pratap Singh, SHO Sector 58 police station, said that they received information about the movement of these gang members in Sector 55 area.

“We deployed a police team at the spot in the morning. Five suspects came on two bikes. They were signalled to stop for checking but they tried to speed away. The police team chased the criminals and apprehended them,” he said.

The suspects were arrested after they failed to produce papers of the motorcycles. Police frisked them and recovered two .315 bore country-made pistol, one live cartridge and 10 mobile phones, two knives and two stolen bikes from their possession.

Police said the gang members used to roam around in Noida and Greater Noida on bikes and snatched phones and valuables of commuters. The accused sold the stolen valuables to unscrupulous buyers in remote areas. “A case under Section 380 of IPC and Arms Act has been registered against the accused. They were produced in court and sent to judicial custody on Wednesday,” said Singh.
