‘Regular employees and Grameen Dak Sevaks being pitted against each other’

The postal services suffered a jolt as the employees, who are on a warpath against the management, boycotted duties for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.

The Joint Council of Action (JCA) of postal and RMS employees, under the banner of National Federation of Postal Employees, Federation of National Postal Organisations and All India Postal Employees Union GDS raised a banner of revolt, demanding implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for the Grameen Dak Sevaks (GDS) or rural postal employees.

The Head Post Office wore a deserted look on Wednesday, with the employees abstaining from duty en masse.

Sensing an attempt to divide the employees, the union leaders said that the regular employees and their rural counterparts (GDS) would stand on a single platform and fight for each other’s rights.

Past attempts

They cited attempts in the past to pit one against the other and render injustice to all sections.
