Trump Pardons Late Heavyweight Champion Jack Johnson

President Trump pardoned the late heavyweight boxer Jack Johnson.????The Hill reports he was convicted in the early 1900s of transporting a woman across state lines for “immoral purposes” which was in direct violation of the Mann Act.????Johnson, who was the first black heavyweight champion of the world, was convicted by an all white jury, the Hill reports.????(VO* - 4)??Johnson was released from prison in 1921 after serving one year and he died in 1946.????While speaking in the Oval Office Trump said, ““I am taking this very righteous step, I believe, to correct a wrong that occurred in our history, and to honor a truly legendary boxing champion.”????Former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis posted a photo on Twitter with past heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and actor Sylvester Stallone who advocated for Johnson’s pardon??All three men attended the event in support of Johnson.????
