It was a visual delight for the devotees, as Lord Sri Govindaraja Swamy, accompanied by his consorts, rode the mighty ‘Simha Vahanam’, on the third day of the annual brahmotsavams here on Wednesday morning.

Personification of valour

The procession, led by elephants, bulls and cultural troupes, forming a part of temple paraphernalia, ushered in a festive atmosphere around the temple precincts. According to ‘Stotra Vangmayam’, the Lord appears as a fierce lion in the heart of demons and is hence depicted as personification of valour and taken on the lion.

Later in the evening, after the rituals, the Lord was taken atop the pearl-studded canopy of ‘Muthyapu Pandiri Vahanam’ around the four mada streets of the temple.
