Indore: Man selling cars on forged documents nabbed 


Indore: City crime branch on Wednesday arrested a person from Mumbai for making forged documents to sell cars in MP. He would purchase cars from Maharashtra, forge documents to show that cars are from Madhya Pradesh and then sell them in MP. His accomplices involved in preparing forged documents and providing him vehicles are being searched by the police.

Additional superintendent of police (crime) Amarendra Singh said a crime branch team was constituted to arrest accused Sanjay D’souza, a resident of Jawahar Marg, who was absconding in connection with a forgery case of the city. The crime branch had sent the radio messages for the arrest of accused to police of other states too. Mumbai police had informed that accused Sanjay was arrested by MIDC police station in connection with an embezzlement case and he is in judicial custody.

On the request of crime branch, the local court had issued a production warrant and ordered Arthur Road jail superintendent, Mumbai, to produce the accused before the court on May 22 after which the magistrate of Mumbai handed over the accused to crime branch to produce him before court in Indore from where he was arrested after the court permission.


Accused Sanjay earlier ran a shop named D’souza Tailors on Jawahar Marg in Indore a few years ago when his relative Raju Chouhan told him that selling cars on the basis of forged documents in Maharashtra will get him profit. After that accused Sanjay started buying and selling the vehicles between two states.

Accused told police that he stayed in Nashik since 2000. He came to Maheshwar for some work where he met a person named Pammi. Pammi informed him that one Irfan Mansuri is involved in selling Maharashtra’s vehicles in MP.

Sanjay later bought cars from Irfan Mansuri and sold them in MP. Mansuri had also provided forged papers of cars to the customers. One of their accomplices Abdul Qadar Gani of Mumbai used to prepare forged documents of stolen cars before selling it in MP. The accused is being questioned about his other accomplices as well.
