RU to start diploma courses in foreign languages, value education

Ranchi University (RU) will start Diploma courses in Foreign Languages, Value Education from the academic year 2018-19. The decision was taken during the academic council meeting conducted on Wednesday with the college principals, Head of the Departments (HODs) of various constituent and affiliated colleges. Besides giving consent over starting new courses (Degree, Diploma) a few major agendas were also taken up during the meeting chaired by Ranchi University (RU) VC – Dr Ramesh Kumar Pandey.

RU which initiated Post Graduation (PG) course in Yoga recently two year back will introduce one year Diploma course from July 2018. Further, during the academic council meeting, approval of starting Diploma course in Physiotherapy at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) got green signal from the members of academic council.

The decision of starting Executive Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programme was also approved during the meeting. The Executive MBA programme for working professionals will be initiated at Doranda College and Institute of Management Studies (IMS), Ranchi from this academic year.

RU Pro (VC), Dr. Kamini Kumar said that on popular demand of students, RU has decided to introduce certificate course in digital photography. “A certificate course in Digital Photography will be introduced from August-September 2018. Course module has been drafted under the supervision of experts. The decision has been taken to produce abundant trained professionals looking at the requirement of the industry,” she said. ‘Self Financing’ course in Masters of Computer Application (MCA) and M. Sc. Information Technology (IT) will be started in Ranchi Women’s College as well as RU this year.

Kumar further added that besides introducing new courses and modifying syllabus of Chottanagpur Law College, instruction have been sent to all the colleges to start evening classes. “During the meeting, college Heads have been told to make arrangement for starting evening classes. All courses introduced in the evening session will be ‘Self-Financing’ courses. Attempts will be made to start some popular courses which are in demand and students after completing their respective courses get job easily,” added Kumar.
