LUDHIANA: A head constable died after he allegedly shot himself with his service weapon at City Raikot police station of Ludhiana rural police on Thursday evening. The deceased was identified as 50-year-old Baljinder
Singh of Bhundri village in Jagraon.
Police officials said that
Baljinder had taken his service weapon from
Munshi on Thursday evening after he joined duty. They added that Baljinder, who was upset because of property dispute with father and brother shot himself with the same weapon in police station.
Cops said that the seriously injured Baljinder was rushed to a reputed private hospital in Ludhiana where he breathed his last on Thursday evening. They added that police has recovered suicide note from the spot wherein he has blamed his father and brother for taking extreme step.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Investigation Jagraon, Amandeep Singh, who is holding additional charge of
DSP Raikot, said that they have started investigation into the matter. He added that the police is recording the statement of two sons of the deceased and has recovered the suicide note and necessary action under law will be taken into the matter.
