Sudhir Mishra to direct Indian version of 'Hostages' as webseries

The Indian adaptation of popular Israeli crime thriller "Hostages", to be telecast as a webseries, will be directed by

Applause Entertainment, the content studio from the Aditya Birla Group, has acquired the rights forthe Indian remake from Armoza Formats.

The show will be produced by Banijay Asia, according to a press release.

"'Hostages' is an enthralling and captivating concept, which will hook viewers,"Sameer Nair, CEO, Applause Entertainment, said in a statement.

Apart from Roy and Chopra, the Indian adaptation will also have actors like and in key roles.

"There is a clear demand for a show like this in the digital space and with a like Mishra, like and actors like Ronit, Tisca, Parvin and Dalip, this show will definitely take the premium conspiracy series bar a notch higher," Nair added.

For Mishra, the creator of classics such as "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi" and "Chameli", this will be his first webseries as a

"I treat each and every film or show of mine as the first one, which helps me think of the plot in a new and fresh way. 'Hostages' is one such example. A show like this has never been made before and 'Hostages' will give a fresh turn to the Indian digital space," said.
