Man Utd transfer news: Tottenham told to sell Toby Alderweireld to United ‘right now’
TOTTENHAM should attempt to sell Toby Alderweireld as soon as possible, claims ESPN FC pundit Alejandro Moreno.
Alderweireld’s future at Tottenham is in doubt after he turned down a new contract at the club at the start of the year.
The Belgium international suffered following that decision and was often left out of the starting XI, with Davinson Sanchez preferred.
Alderweireld’s Spurs contract runs out in 2019 but the club have an option to extend it for another 12 months.
However, if they do so, then a clause in his contract means the 29-year-old would be available for just £25million next summer.

If you’re going to get some return in your investment if you’re Spurs, you probably want to deal him right now
So Moreno reckons Tottenham must look to sell him, with Manchester United keen on his signature.
“Toby Alderweireld, it’s important for him and Spurs to understand what his contract situation is,” the Venezuelan said.
“If he’s allowed to stay this year and then leave next year, he’s going to go at a very cheap price compared to what the market is nowadays.
“So if you’re going to get some return in your investment if you’re Spurs, you probably want to deal him right now and make sure you maximise the best price available.

“Where is that big money going to come from? A big club like Manchester United.
“To me, there is a need for Manchester United, there is a want for Toby Alderweireld.
“I think financially speaking it makes sense for Spurs as well.”
