Geauga County Sheriff’s Office detectives, aided by Chardon police officers, Geauga Park District rangers and Ohio Highway Patrol troopers, arrested two men accused of trying to sell drugs in Chardon, a Sheriff’s Office news release stated.

Arrested May 22 were 32-year-old Cleveland resident Ramel McHaney and Curtis O. Hickman, who is also 32 and lives in Euclid, according to the news release.

“During a weeklong investigation, detectives learned that Ramel McHaney and Curtis Hickman were selling heroin, fentanyl, and crystal methamphetamine throughout the Lake and Geauga County area,” the release reads. “When detectives approached the men at a Chardon city business, they attempted to conceal the narcotics inside of their anal cavities and further refused to comply with police orders.”

The release continues: “Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Geauga County Safety Center, where the narcotics were removed from their persons.”

Each defendant faces felony counts of tampering with evidence, and heroin and methamphetamine trafficking, the release states.

McHaney and Hickman appeared in Chardon Municipal Court on May 23 and additional criminal charges are forthcoming pending a presentation to the Geauga County grand jury, according to the release.
