India, Nepal to conduct joint military excercise SURYA KIRAN-13 from June 30 |
The joint military exercise SURYA KIRAN-13 between India and Nepal will be conducted at Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand from the 30th of this month till the 12th of next month. The exercise will comprise nearly 300 soldiers from the Armies of both the countries.
During the exercise, both nations will share their experiences gained during conduct of various counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations in the past.
The Defence Ministry, in a release, said the exercise is a biannual event which is conducted alternatively in Nepal and India. The aim of this exercise is to conduct battalion level joint training with emphasis on counter terrorism operations in mountainous terrain.
Aspects of disaster management and joint effort towards relief work have also been included.
