One candidate for Holly Hill mayor is dropping out of the race.
Chris Via will be the lone candidate heading into next month's qualifying after Roy Johnson, a former mayor, makes his departure from the mayor's race official.
But Johnson said Tuesday he is intending to file paperwork to switch from mayor to City Commission District 4. That's the seat Via — who's also the vice mayor — currently holds.
"I don't have anything against him," Johnson said when asked whether he is endorsing Via. "I've heard good things about him."
A mayoral candidates' forum that had been planned Saturday for the American Legion Post 120 has been canceled, Via and Johnson said.
