Anthem adds Riggs to its Medicare Advantage provider network
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana (Anthem) is committed to increasing consumer access to high-quality, affordable health care. As part of this commitment, Anthem and Riggs Community Health Center (Riggs) announced today that Anthem added Riggs to its preferred list of care providers for its Medicare Advantage (MA) health plans. Riggs’ care providers were added to Anthem’s MA health plan network in March 2018, resulting in lower out-of-pocket costs for consumers compared to seeing a care provider outside of Anthem’s network.

Riggs Community Health Center is one of more than 8,000 community health centers nationwide that provide health care to underserved areas. Over the past year, Riggs delivered high-quality, cost-effective care to more than 13,000 men, women and children in Tippecanoe, Boone and surrounding counties. Riggs offers primary care, behavioral health, dental and women’s health services to the community at 3 locations in Lafayette and another location in Lebanon.

Having Riggs as in-network for Anthem’s Medicare Advantage plans is especially advantageous for consumers who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid – often referred to as dual-eligible. The Anthem MediBlue Dual Advantage (HMO D-SNP) plan is specifically designed for dual-eligible individuals. This health plan provides more coordination of health plan benefits for consumers across the Medicare and Medicaid programs, compared to standard MA plans.
Consumers who are enrolled in Anthem’s other Medicare Advantage plans can also see a Riggs care provider on an in-network basis. These Anthem MA plans are Anthem MediBlue Plus (HMO), Anthem MediBlue Access (PPO), or Anthem MediBlue Access Basic (Regional PPO).
Some consumers are eligible to enroll in a Medicare plan today. These individuals include those who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid benefits; consumers who qualify for a special enrollment period, such as those who recently moved; or individuals who are turning 65 and newly eligible for Medicare.
