Athens is the host destination of the IMTJ Medical Travel Summit 2018, which is a high level event aimed at key decision makers who are involved in the medical tourism and international patient market. The summit is organized by LaingBuisson International, who are publishers of the International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ), Argo Travel and Greece’s medical tourism council Elitour.

Pollard said, “Greece’s tourism is recovering…27 million tourists came last year and only a small proportion were medical tourists. The benefit of this conference coming to Athens is that it gives Greek hospitals, clinics, Elitour and the providers in Greece the chance to learn from some other parts of the world on how they can develop their country as a medical tourism destination.”

The IMTJ Medical Travel Summit attendees include medical tourism professionals from all over the world, including Malaysia, Korea and the United States. “These destinations are doing a great job of medical travel,” Pollard added.

The IMTJ Medical Travel Summit ended on May 24.
