EIA reports a weekly rise of 91 billion cubic feet in U.S. natural-gas supplies

The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Thursday that domestic supplies of natural gas rose by 91 billion cubic feet for the week ended May 18. Analysts surveyed by S&P Global Platts had forecast a climb of 93 billion cubic feet, which was nearly in line with the average over the last five years for the same week. Total stocks now stand at 1.629 trillion cubic feet, down 804 billion cubic feet from a year ago, and 499 billion below the five-year average, the government said. June natural gas rose by a penny, or 0.3%, at $2.9247 per million British thermal units, up slightly from $2.909 before the data.
