Editors note: The initial story incorrectly stated the location of the crash.

A plane crashed Thursday afternoon in some woods west of Port Orange and the occupant has gotten out of the aircraft without serious injuries, an official said.

The plane crashed at 4:20 p.m. about 50 feet from a home at 2160 Spruce Creek Circle West, a neighborhood of sprawling ranch homes. It is the second plane crash in the area this week.

Volusia County deputies were on the scene investigating. The pilot was the sole occupant and appears to be in his 60s or 70s, said Laura Williams, sheriff's spokeswoman.

The pilot went to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

On Tuesday night a passenger was killed in nearby Spruce Creek Fly-In and the pilot critically injured after a single-engine plane crashed after takeoff.
