Ohio Chautauqua Tour to go through Geauga County in 2019

Representatives from Chardon Tomorrow and the Burton Historic District have been notified that their respective cities had been selected to host the Ohio Chautauqua Tour in 2019.

The Geauga County sites join Warren, Milan and Defiance for a month-long tour in June of next year, according to a news release.

“We had been engaged in discussion with our Chardon city leaders for over a year about trying to bring Chautauqua to Chardon. After meeting with the Burton Historic District in March we decided to submit a joint application to offer the strongest possible options for consideration,” said Mary Glauser, executive director of Chardon Tomorrow, in the release. “We are extremely excited to bring this program to the county and our respective communities.”

The tour dates will be announced later this month, but the planning for the event has already started. Those interested in sponsoring or volunteering for the Ohio Chautauqua Tour can contact their respective organizations.

The Ohio Chautauqua Tour is a five-day free community event that combines living history performances, music, education and audience participation into a one-of-a-kind experience for the entire community.
