Chandigarh: Class XII vocational students put up exhibition-cum-sale of clothes made by them

CHANDIGARH: Education Department, Chandigarh organised an exhibition-cum-sale of health care, beauty, culture and fashion designing products made by Class XII students studying vocational courses in Chandigarh-based government schools.

Garments and hand painted, block and screen printed linen, duppattas and other items prepared by Class XII Fashion Designing and Clothing Construction and Textile Designing and Printing Vocational Course students were displayed at Kisan Bhawan, Sector-35 Chandigarh. Students also displayed products of health and care.



Students of Textile Designing and Printing, with fine strokes of brush, brought out beautiful suits, sarees, dupattas and other linen items.

The items displayed in this exhibition-cum-sale had been prepared by the students during their on-the-job training held in the school workshop. Real work situation was created in the school workshop and the students work under the supervision of their teachers, creating designer items every day. During these days students put the skills of designing, cutting and tailoring to practise and produce a variety of items for various age groups and tastes.

Similarly, students of Textile Designing and Printing, with fine strokes of brush, brought out beautiful suits, sarees, dupattas and other linen items.

To develop the entrepreneurship skills in the students, they were involved in the process of production, right from the first stage of purchasing the material to the last stage of finishing of an item. Cost calculation of each item is also done by the students and finally the items are packed nicely for display in the exhibition-cum-sale.

Maximum number of students of various vocational courses have been made to participate in this event. Students of Health Care and Beauty Culture, Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Food Service and Management and Bakery and Confectionery Vocational Courses also participate in it. Students of Health Care and Beauty Culture had put up stalls of herbal cosmetic items such as face packs, creams, lotions etc. learnt and prepared by them during their course.
