The Times of Malta revealed that the laptops of slain blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia have been given to the German federal police. It also reported about a bomb explosion in Gharghur which left a 42-year-old man critically injured.

L-Orizzont adds a new dimension to the latter story, however, saying that victim Kevin Ellul was known to the police and could have been making the bomb himself. It also ran a story in which Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi said the government was determined to improve the island's tourism product.

In-Nazzjon also gave prominence to the explosion on Wednesday, adding that the Nationalist Party had voted against the second reading of the Bill on IVF and embryo freezing in parliament on Wednesday night.

And of course, the Malta Independent's main story was also about the explosion, with its second report honing in on the NAO report at the overspending (and under-documentation) on the Mater Dei project, with the newspaper seeking comments from former prime minister Lawrence Gonzi.
