Cops to get PIEL systems for Kumbh

ALLAHABAD: In a first, the Kumbh mela police will deploy ‘portable inflatable emergency lighting’ (PIEL) systems in and around the sprawling mela campus to ensure 24x7 lighting facility during the mega religious event to be held in 2019.
The equipment is said to be helpful in case of a disaster, emergency and fire and safety operations in case of power failure.

Allahabad range IG Ramit Sharma said, “Kumbh Mela police will install at least 10 PIEL systems to arrange adequate lighting arrangements in case of power failure. Each system costs around Rs 2.03 lakh and consists of inbuilt genset, two blowers, and 400W metal halide lamp.”

Officials pointed out that the system would be useful in carrying out operations in case of a power failure.

An expert said that PIEL system will be helpful in arranging adequate lighting at a specific location and activities in case of power failure. The system is presently in use with defence forces, fire services, SDRF, NDRF, transmission companies, etc.
