James F. Holland, Jr., 79, of Baden, died Monday, May 21, 2018, in Heritage Valley Health System, Sewickley. He was born April 22, 1939, in Rochester, Pa., to the late James F. and Margaret Rosenberger Holland, Sr. He was a retired retarder operator for Norfolk and Southern Railroad. Jim attended New Hope Lutheran Church, Economy. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Baden American Legion Post 641. He was a member and legislative representative of United Transportation Union Local 1418. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Alex (AJ) Prokop. Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Ann Speigle Holland; a daughter, Dana (Robert) Szymczak of Coraopolis; a son, Christopher J. (Lori) Holland of Economy; three grandchildren, Tyler and Caison Holland and Krysia Szymczak; two brothers, Robert Holland of New Jersey, and Carl (Sue) Holland of New York; a sister, Shirley (Rick) Roper of Hawaii; nephews, Tom Prokop of Economy, and Rob Prokop of Shadyside; and nieces, Amy Holland of New York, and Katy Cuadrado of Virginia. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the JOHN SYKA FUNERAL HOME INC., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m. in the New Hope Lutheran Church, 200 2nd Avenue, Economy. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. The Rev. Jill McGregor will officiate. Interment with full military honors provided by the Beaver County Special Unit and the U.S. Army will follow at 12:15 p.m. in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
