Meghan Markle observed the Queen's rule of nail polish
Everything about Meghan Markle’s, um excuse me, the-now Duchess of Sussex’s hair and makeup look on her wedding day was pitch perfect, right down to her pristinely manicured nails. Word on the street is that the polish was Essie Ballet Slippers. Essie describes it as “a classic pale pink polish graced with a subtle sheer finish”.
To get perfect wedding nails try wearing it with three coats to give it an opaque density and top up every second day with a topcoat to give it longevity.
Meghan was following a long tradition, regarding her polish, as dictated by HRH Queen Elizabeth who, according to Harpers Bazaar, requires her daughters-in-law to have clean, pale-polished, neat, short nails at all times. Her Magesty is reportedly not fond of anything outside of the most basic, nude tones, and loathes reds, believing such bright colours to be vulgar.
According to British nail polish behemoth Essie, Queen Elizabeth is a devotee of Essie Ballet Slippers ($15) and it is has been her go-to polish for 28 years. The story goes that the Queen’s hairdresser wrote a letter to nail polish guru Essie Weingarten in 1989 asking for a bottle; and the rest is history. This pale pink shade is a classic and the Queen’s favourite nail accessory. Kate Middleton, - excuse me - the Duchess of Cambridge - wore a similar shade on her wedding day back in 2011 called Essie Allure.
High-end Nails & Brows in Mayfair is Meghan’s go-to salon for her brow shaping and manicures, which range from $US30 for a regular manicure to $US80 for an organic manicure.
