Girls outshine boys with a pass percentage of 96.4.

Tamil Nadu recorded a pass percentage of 94.5 in the Class X this year — a slight increase from 2017 figure of 94.4%.

Speaking about the performance of the students in the State, Minister for School Education K.A. Sengottaiyan said that girls had secured a pass percentage of 96.4, higher than that of the boys who took up the exam this year which stood at 92.5.

Sivaganga district has topped the State with a pass percentage of 98.50. Erode and Virudhunagar are next on the list with 98.38% and 98.26% of the students respectively having cleared the exam. An analysis of the overall results further indicated that 9,402 students have scored above 481 marks, which is less than 1% of the students who took up the SSLC Exam.

The results for the public exam were announced at 9:30 a.m. and students received their results directly through SMS or were able to check it online as well.

For students who have not cleared the exam, the School Education Department has announced that they can take up the supplementary exam which will be held on June 28.

For the Class X students who have just received their results, they will have to take up two more public exams in the next two years, given that the State government has now introduced Class XI board exams as well.
