Hope Naveenbabu joins Left to fight BJP in 2019: CPI(ML)

CPI(ML) Liberation general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharjee while joining  a seminar on bicentenary anniversary of Karl Marx organised here by the State unit of his party gave a clarion call for a united fight of all secular forces against the Modi Government at the Centre to save democracy.

He attacked the Centre for fuel price hike, monopoly of banks, growing organised mob lynching and love Jihad etc and called upon the Left parties to play a dynamic role to bring forth people’s issues.

Here are excerpts of a short interview with him.

On Left unity:

I don’t think Left is declining but yes. The defeat in West Bengal and Tripura should not be considered as fall of Marxism or the Left forces. Governments will come and go because people have some expectations, aspirations and desire. There is bound to be dissatisfaction or disenchantment. We need to change ou selves on the changing situations.

On Maoist menace:

Their anger is justified but their operational strategy is quite different. They need to rethink their strategy.

On anti-displacement:

Though in the past we have witnessed a range of struggles in Nandigram, Singur, Kashipur, Kalinganagar and Posco against industrialiszation and supposed displacement, it didn’t produced any alternative. It rather galvanised people’s struggle all over. These movements are crucial for resurrecting people’s right.

On BJD Govt and Naveen Patnaik:

Since 1991 every Government in India is pursuing liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation aggressively. Odisha has also followed it making it a pro-corporate Government. The basic issues like land, hunger, malnutrition, unemployment, farmer’s distress are not however solved. One positive thing with BJD is it didn’t go with BJP. We hope in the greater fight between Modi versus rest, Naveenbabu will be with rest.
