THANE: A fire broke out at a chemical godown in a ground-plus two building at
Khopat on Tuesday around 12.30 pm. By the time the fire officials reached the spot the blaze which started in the A wing of
Amergain complex on the ground floor started to spread to the adjacent godwon.
A fire official from
Panchpakhadi fire station said, “As per initial investigations, a short-circuit seems to have triggered the blaze. The fire started at
Sanyog chemicals private limited and soon spread to an adjacent godown. While there were no injuries there was a lot of smoke. Officials from
Jawar Baug and Balkum fire department were called for help. Fortunately, the damage was not much as timely action was taken.”
The company is into manufacturing chemicals used for industrial purposes such as in cosmetics, textiles, paints etc. — Avani Ghangurde
