Ludhiana: Rs 64.82 crore sanctioned for strengthening electrical power distribution

LUDHIANA: Aiming to strengthen electrical transmission and distribution system in the city, Punjab Government has sanctioned Rs 64.82 crore for the entire project of industrial feeders for delivering quality supply to the consumers of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). The project is expected to start from September this year and at present, tendering process of the project has been initiated on to outsource the work.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu, who also informed that the strengthening of electrical power distribution network of Ludhiana City includes 417 feeders of 5 sub-divisions of Ludhiana City West, CMC, Focal Point, Estate and Sunder Nagar. This has a total of replacing of the low-tension line of 163.22 km and High tension lines of 626.66 km and reconstructs 1197 high tension connections, which will be beneficial to the consumers.

Disclosing about the project Bittu said, “The power supply will get more streamlined in the city in the coming months with completion of the project. The problems of voltage fluctuation and irregularity of electricity supply would be sorted out completely. The strengthening of electrical power distribution would also reduce the chances of short circuit incidences and people will have a reason to cheer as no power cuts will be imposed by PSPCL in this summer season”

He also added, “There is not any shortage of electricity in Punjab and the industry sector will continue to get the power on a flat rate of Rs 5 per unit and ensured the small scale industries to get this benefit soon as government has taken the issue seriously”
