TULSA, Okla. (AP) - An Oklahoma judge has entered a not guilty plea for a Tulsa woman charged with stabbing her 11-year-old daughter 50 to 70 times, hitting her in the head with an axe, then setting their home on fire. Taheera Ahmad appeared by video Tuesday in Tulsa County District Court where she's charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, child neglect and arson. Police say Ahmad bound and gagged the girl and two younger daughters, who were found unharmed, then stabbed the older girl.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Oklahoma lawsuit accusing an oil company of being responsible for damage caused by earthquakes in 2011 has gained class-action status and will go to trial. The Oklahoman reports that a judge ruled Friday the class includes citizens with property in nine central Oklahoma counties that were damaged by the earthquakes near Prague. The lawsuit alleges that New Dominion LLC's wastewater disposal operations caused a trio of earthquakes in November 2011. The trial is scheduled for September.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Relatives say Tulsa sheriff's deputies "did nothing" to help a man who was suffering a psychotic episode when they fatally shot him. The mother of 29-year-old Joshua Barre filed a federal lawsuit Monday accusing the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office of negligence in his death. Deputies say they had to shoot Barre June 9 when he approached a convenience store carrying two large knives. The lawsuit says deputies didn't help Barre in his "dangerous state of acute psychosis."
