FALL RIVER – Durfee inched above .500 for the fifth time this season by defeating Bishop Connolly 9-0 in their baseball game on Tuesday at drizzly Skip Lewis Field.

Cameron Macedo pitched a complete-game two-hitter and the Hilltoppers (8-7) made the most of their seven hits. Macedo struck out eight and walked three.

Nate Ladeira was 2-for-2 with three runs batted in and two runs scored. He belted the first pitch he saw for a two-run home run in the home half of the first inning.

Teammate Matt Saunders was 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and an RBI. Remy Dumont blasted a solo home run in the fifth inning.

Durfee scored twice in the first, second and fourth innings and put up three more runs in the fifth.

Durfee stranded eight baserunners, Connolly five.

Thomas Johnston (double, single) had both hits for Bishop Connolly (1-13). He was the lone Cougar in the lineup to avoid striking out against Macedo (2-1), who lowered his ERA to 2.06.

Zachary Mullins (2 innings) was the losing pitcher.

Ethan Ferreira (1-for-3), Brett Fonseca and Zak Souza each knocked in one run.
